This project started when I realized how frustrating it was to properly position a projector for an outdoor movie night. Most projectors throw images upward, meaning if you want the image to go over an audience, you have to flip the projector upside down. While there are plenty of ceiling mounts for this, I couldn’t find a good portable solution. So, I designed my own.
The result was a fully 3D-printed modular mount that keeps the projector inverted while offering two mounting options—a fixed wall mount for permanent setups and a tripod mount for portable use. Designed for easy manufacturing and assembly, this solution allows for quick swapping, tool-free adjustments, and a rock-solid hold, making projector setups more versatile and hassle-free than ever.
At the core of this system is a universal mounting bracket that attaches to the bottom of the projector. This piece features tilt adjustments on either side, connecting it to two different mounting options: a wall mount for permanent setups and a tripod mount for portable use. This modular approach means the projector can be quickly transferred between the two without needing tools, making setup faster and more convenient.
Unlike traditional mounts that require wrenches and screwdrivers for adjustments, this design uses finger-tightened fasteners. This allows for easy tilt, pivot, and angle adjustments entirely by hand, ensuring the best projection alignment without the hassle of extra tools.
The tripod mount brings flexibility to outdoor movie nights, temporary event setups, or mobile presentations. By securing the projector upside down on a tripod pole, it allows for easy height adjustments while ensuring the image is projected over people’s heads without obstruction.

The wall mount provides a stable, low-profile solution for home theaters or presentation spaces. By holding the projector upside down, it ensures optimal projection height while keeping the setup compact and organized. The quick-release feature allows the projector to be detached effortlessly if needed.
Because projectors are delicate, I designed the pivot system and support arms to be extra robust despite being 3D-printed. The mount distributes weight efficiently to hold the projector securely while allowing smooth angle adjustments. This ensures that the projector remains protected and properly supported.
Both designs have been thoroughly tested and have proven their effectiveness over time. I have been using the wall-mounted version for over two years, and it has remained rock solid, securely holding the projector while allowing for easy adjustments.
The tripod-mounted version has been used on dozens of occasions for impromptu movie nights, and its durability and tool-free adjustability have been essential for quick and reliable setups. Whether for permanent installations or portable use, this system has delivered exactly what I designed it for—stability, convenience, and versatility.
